The regulation on the amendment of the Regulation on Veterinary Medicinal Products was published in the Official Gazette

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has harmonized the medicinal products that veterinarians will use with European Union (EU) legislation.


With the amendment of the regulation prepared by the Ministry, the definitions of limited market products and innovative treatment products were added to the regulation and brought into line with EU legislation. In addition, the allotted period for the consideration of applications for veterinary medicinal products was organized so that it could not exceed 3 years, and the storage period of records kept in warehouses was reduced from 5 years to 3 years.


The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has harmonized the medicinal products that veterinarians will use with European Union (EU) legislation.


The "Regulation on Amendments to the Regulation on Veterinary Medicinal Products" prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry entered into force from October 31, 2023.


According to the ministry, the amendment was made to transpose the definitions of "innovative treatment product" and "limited market product" in EU legislation to the regulation. The conditions for allowing products that may need to be used in exceptional situations with newly added limited market products have been brought into line with EU legislation. The additional period granted by the Ministry to the applicant shall not exceed 3 years in order to comply with the decisions taken by the commission established to consider applications for veterinary medicinal products and other matters relating to such products. The storage period of the records to be kept by the repositories was reduced from 5 years to 3 years.
